The New Ukrainian School Hub will empower Ukrainian refugees to access quality education.
FREMONT, CA : The New Ukrainian School Hub will help Ukrainian refugees to enhance their knowledge and support educators, learners, and families to find suitable tools for them and enrich their learning experience. The hub was launched on Children’s day as announced by the European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, Mariya Gabriel. It is the free Hub which provides educational resources to support Ukrainian refugees. Developed by European Edtech Alliances and the “Learning Together” project, the hub provides access to supplemental Edtech solutions and a Ukrainian online learning platform. In addition, the hub also provides Ukrainians direct access to relevant country-specific or local education access information.
This hub also supports the integration of Ukrainian resources within local or regional ecosystems. Through various platforms, the hub provides important information to refugees that augment their learning and teaching experience. It is very important to make this information and resources easily accessible to the Ukrainian refugees.
The initiative was funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland and the European Commission for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth. The initiative focuses on providing resources to school educators, administrators, learners, and those supporting learners such as their families, host families, or communities. It builds on both the existing collection of over 200 supportive Edtech offerings from over 20 member states collated by the European Edtech Alliance (EEA) and the infrastructure of the “Learning Together” Project. This project is also handled by the University of Helsinki and Finish Consulting Group Ltd in cooperation with the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine (MDT) and UNICEF. The initiative is aligned with the objectives of the Digital Education Action Plan of the European Commission, contributing to the enhancement of a high-performing digital education ecosystem in Europe.
The millions of Ukrainian refugees must be connected with local educational ecosystems to render them the opportunities to enrich their knowledge and overcome difficult situations.
Partners of Hub:
1. Finland helped Ukrainian to establish their innovative idea with the help of the “Learning Together” project which allows them to enhance their quality of education and explore new ideas with the help of implementation in the agency with cooperation with the faculty of Educational Sciences of the University of Helsinki. This project cooperates with digital educational development.
2. The alliance has two main areas of focus, they are policy work and support for Edtech start-ups and sales-ups. The EEA develops important insights, resources, and tools, which can be used to support sustainable development within the education ecosystem. Since February 2022, the EEA has organised hundreds of resources and developed a thorough meta-tagging system for supplemental and curricula-based materials supporting Ukrainian learners, teachers, and their families.
